Background information:
Tuesday morning I went out to feed the two dogs that are living at our compound now, Marori who is Billy and Joanna Coppedge’s dog and Puppet who belongs to the Hopson family. While I was feeding the dogs our guard came over to greet me. As we were talking I asked him if he would mind giving the dogs a bath since the Hopson’s were arriving from the States the next day and puppet needed to be clean for her owners. The following conversation then took place which I think is hilarious and many of us have had numerous laughs about it.
Guard: Madam Jean I have wanted to talk to you about giving the dogs a bath.
I know that yesterday you mentioned to me about washing the dogs, but yesterday when I was going to wash the dogs it was too cold and I thought that the dogs might be too cold if I washed them.
Jeannie: It was too cold?
Guard: Yes, Jean. It was too cold and then this morning it is too cold to wash the dogs. If I were to wash the dogs this morning they might freeze to death, but this afternoon if the sun comes out then I will wash them.
Okay I know that it is February and many of you might be thinking that he is right it is too cold to wash the dogs. However, mind you we are almost on top of the equator and it is never too cold in Uganda to wash dogs! The days that he thought were too cold it was somewhere between 80 and 85 degrees which is still swimming weather in Georgia! So like I said at the beginning it is all about perspective.
