I am sorry that I have not written in a while, but the last week has been quite eventful! Valentine’s Day was this week and I hope that you all had a wonderful time spending time with the one’s you love! I also pray and hope that you realize and take time to let God remind you of how much He loves you!! This was my first Valentine’s Day in another country. It is pretty amazing that even though I am thousands of miles away from America, Western culture has influenced even Uganda and there were cards and flowers in the stores to be bought! Thank you all so very much for those of you who sent cards! They were wonderful to open and to feel so much love and encouragement! It was especially wonderful because I was…
Sick! I was sick all day on Valentine’s Day! There was a stomach bug going around some of the missionaries and I caught it! It was no fun, but as I lay in bed I got to spend some amazing alone time with Jesus and He was so good to remind me of His great love for me, for my family and friends, and for the people of Uganda! It was beautiful!
So as if there was not enough excitement from Valentine’s Day, being sick, and the business of learning Swahili we had a little extra excitement early this morning.
Around 5:30 this morning (Monday morning) I woke up to my bed shaking and doors swaying. At first I thought, “Wow, this is some dream!” Then I realized that this was no dream and that the bed really was moving! It only lasted a minute and I debated waking up my roommate, but thought surely I was crazy so I opted to stay in bed and play through every scenario! I was glad to hear when my roommate woke up that she too had felt it. We rushed downstairs to check out the internet and there had really been an earthquake in western Uganda. It was not a bad earthquake just enough to scare us all! We still have not received word of damage from that area of Uganda, but we are praying and trusting that God is taking care of them! So thank you for all you prayer warriors who were praying for us last night and are continuously praying for us! You may never know what those prayers are protecting us from! I never thought I would come to Uganda to experience an earthquake…but God is so good to protect us and care for us! Remember that I love you all and I am praying for you all! May Jesus be ever so close to each one of you this week!
